MV Volans going to Cambodia [13-01-2010]

Asian Geos’ second geotechnical vessel MV Volans will be leaving for offshore Cambodia to undertake  a geotechnical investigation campaign  for jack-up leg penetration study. The client is PTTEP Cambodia .  The vessel will depart Songkhla, Thailand for Sinahoukville port around mid January 2009.

At each location, the MV Volans will perform a 40m continuous drilling and sampling and a 40m of continuous PCPT. Most of the soil samples will be tested onboard the vessel. The remaining untested samples will be brought to AG’s own soils laboratory for further onshore testing. The engineering analysis and reporting will be conducted by AG’s geotechnical engineers in Kuala Lumpur.

After the completion of project in Cambodia which is expected by end January 2010, the MV Volans will sail straight to Myanmar to perform a similar work.

AG currently operates two dedicated geotechnical vessels namely the MV Orogenic Geos and the MV Volans. Both vessels are being employed to service offshore geotechnical contracts especially in Malaysia and the SEA region.

Ahmad Fikri Mustapa, Asian Geos General Manager comments:
"MV Volans has been carrying out geotechnical works mainly in Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia. We are excited as this is the first time we are given the opportunity to carry out works in offshore Cambodia. We are determined to face up with all the possible logistical challenges while operating in the new territory. ".
